Looking for a diverse menu? Not sure if you want pizza, or salad, or sandwiches, or great finger food? Then I’ve got the place. At the suggestion of a dear friend, I tested the waters at Your Place Restaurant. With a number of area locations — Union Deposit in Harrisburg, Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg, and Front Street in Wormleysburg — we decided to stop at the Your Place on Progress Avenue and took advantage of the newly opened deck.
And what to choose? A huge fan of lunch, even Betty gets astounded every now and then. This outing was one of those occasions. The Your Place menu is chock full of options, from breaded mozzarella sticks and nachos to an assortment of salads to specialty pizzas, subs, burgers, chicken, and, finally, to a listing of entrées that cover anything from chicken to pasta and more. Now that’s a variety!
Not sure what to select, my companion and I took the easy route and ordered the lunch buffet (offered 11:30am–1:30pm). At a reasonable ($5.95), we were able to select from a smorgasbord of food — some three types of pizza, stromboli, soup and crackers, chicken wings, a sampling of subs, and fresh green salads and dressings. It looked great, it was hot — unlike some buffets it was obvious that the food hadn’t been sitting there for hours — and it tasted delicious!
Seated on the large and very clean deck, my partner and I devoured our meals, interrupted only a few times by the prompt and attentive wait staff. And though the day was a scorcher, the umbrella covered tables and ample-sized wooden benches made for cool dining — which is a good, considering the only thing comparable to how much Betty loves eating outside is her distaste for the hot, blistering sun and humidity that outdoor seating can often bring! It’s awful to have to sweat while eating, my dears!
On the day of our visit, the Progress Avenue Your Place had a nice lunch crowd — apparently news of the great buffet has caught on. Long lines were never a problem, but there was always someone tasting the goodies.
At just over $16 (that includes buffet and bottomless drinks — and tell me, dear readers, what’s better than a cool iced tea and lemon on an early summer afternoon?) my lunch partner and I left Your Place happy and eager to come back. Thank goodness for options — and Your Place has them covered. Which location will I stop at next? And what ever will I eat?
