Sports Bar and Restaurant to Open in Mechanicsburg
A new eatery is opening in the Holiday Inn/Wanda’s Complex in Mechanicsburg. Construction for the establishment, Legend’s — A Real American Sports Bar and Grille, is currently underway; Legend’s will occupy approximately 1800 square feet.
Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Legend’s will seat 120 and feature over 60 television sets, including personal-sized 19 inch units that are recessed into the walls at eye level at nearly all of the booths and tables.
“We won’t be just another run-of-mill sports bar or restaurant,” said Dan Richardson, Regional Project Manager. “We’ve spent weeks analyzing the menu selections of other restaurants in the area and then spent even more time working with our corporate food and beverage experts to carefully craft a menu that will make us really stand out…”
Legend’s menu is a combination of traditional sports affiliated favorites — from chicken wings to foot long hot dogs — and more refined “owner’s box” dining, with options including prime rib, steak, chicken, and “real American desserts.”
Slated to open in April, Legend’s — A Real American Sports Bar and Grille will share a retractable wall with Wanda’s Deck and Beach Club, an aspect that will allow patrons to flow freely between the two areas.
NEA Awards Grant to Harrisburg Opera
Association
The Harrisburg Opera Association has been awarded a grant by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The Opera’s first from the NEA, the grant of $6,000 was given to support the Association’s fall production, Candide, in recognition of the quality and creativity of their productions.
A grant from the NEA is a special achievement that recognizes not only the recipient’s efforts, but also its relationship with the surrounding community. “The awarding of this funding to the Harrisburg Opera illustrates what a tremendous job they are doing to provide the people of the region with fine art performances,” said Senator Rick Santorum. “I fully support the efforts of the Arts throughout our Commonwealth, and I look forward to seeing the positive changes that this funding will provide for the Harrisburg Opera.”
“We are delighted to receive this first-time grant from the NEA,” said Harrisburg Opera President Tom Fitzgerald. “It will go a long way in helping us produce
Candide.”
The Harrisburg Opera Association is in the midst of celebrating its 30th anniversary season.
An Addition to Harrisburg’s “Restaurant Row”
Sparky and Clark’s Roasting Co. and Coffee Bar is the latest addition to the quickly expanding Restaurant Row along Second Street in downtown Harrisburg. Owned by Scott and Melodye Dempsey, Sparky and Clark’s is the fifth new dining attraction to open along the Row in the past four months, according to Harrisburg Mayor Stephen R. Reed.
Boasting their own brand of self-roasted coffees, cappuccinos, and espressos, as well as Pacific Chai, East Indies Teas, Ghiradelli chocolates, and pastries, Sparky and Clark’s also offers light sandwich fare from the Walnut Street Deli. The shop also has coffees and teas for sale by the pound.
“We are delighted to welcome this distinctive new attraction to downtown,” said Reed. “…This is a unique and very tastefully appointed site that is strategically located within two blocks of more than 20,000 daily workers. We think their fine product, elegant atmosphere, friendly service, and prime location is a recipe for considerable success, and we look forward to a very bright future for this newest member of the Restaurant Row family.”
Open seven days a week, Sparky and Clark’s inhabits the former U.S.F.&G. Building, located at the northern edge of Market Square at 20 North Second Street.
