I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Betty loves turkey! So what better a place to eat than a restaurant that specializes in my favorite fowl! Just last week, I joined two of my friends at the Simply Turkey and More location on Erford Road in Camp Hill and we were very pleased with what we found.

A quaint spot, the dining area of Simply Turkey is quite large with tables and chairs arranged in a real lunch room-type feel. Furthering that notion, orders are taken in a cafeteria manner — you grab a tray, place your order, and have your food handed to you from behind an enormous deli case that boasts the delicious wares. It’s quick, it’s efficient, and the food is fresh and delicious.

Enjoying simplicity in my age, I ordered the appropriately named Simply Turkey sandwich ($4.50), amply piled with fresh turkey — not lunchmeat, mind you, but freshly sliced turkey that evokes great memories of Thanksgiving — as well as lettuce, and tomatoes. At Simply Turkey, ordering a sandwich also means that you have the option of selecting your bread — an assortment that includes white, sourdough, wheat, rye, pumpernickel, and marble — and your toppings, which range from the standards, like mayonnaise and mustard to Russian dressing and honey.

Following my lead, my companions ordered a turkey sandwich, but opted for a larger fare. They both selected the Turkey Kong ($5.50), with turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and sweet peppers. And when the folks at Simply Turkey named the sandwich ‘Kong’ make no mistake that they were referring to the infamous “King Kong” — it is that huge! So big, in fact, that it’s a wonder it fits in one’s mouth. All that and it was mouth watering to look at!

As the ‘More’ in the name implies, Simply Turkey and More has more than turkey on its menu. In the sandwich department, they also offer Roasted Chicken, Homestyle Ham, and specialty options (like vegetarian and a turkey and ham combo). And there is definitely more than sandwiches to choose from. There are salads — garden, chef, pasta, and Caesar, to name a few — soups and hot meals, complete with the works, including stuffing and mashed potatoes. You can also order meal deals, with enough food to feed up to six people!

For the grab and go type or for those who are merely looking to compliment their main entrée, Simply Turkey and More has a wide assortment of homemade side dishes, from mashed potatoes with gravy and macaroni and cheese to whole cranberry sauce and candied sweet potatoes. For food lovers, it’s the availability of holiday home cooking every day of the year!
