Johnny Moonbeam and the Silver Arrow
Theater of the Seventh Sister, Lancaster

As part of their Theater for Families and Youth series, the Theater of the Seventh Sister is presenting “Johnny Moonbeam and the Silver Arrow.” A Native American tale, the production tells the story of a young Native American boy and the physical and emotional journey that comes as a result of obtaining and controlling the three spirits of the world — rain, fire, and earth. Will he hoard it, squander it, share it, or give it all away?

“Johnny Moonbeam and the Silver Arrow” will be at the Theater of the Seventh Sister in Lancaster from February 2 – 10. Tickets are $8. For reservations and information, call 396-7764.

Chocolatefest Weekend
Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey
February 3 – 4
Once again, Chocolatefest will be held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. The annual chocolate sampling festivities will also include a silent auction, live entertainment, cake competition, and children’s activities. Some of the participating chocolatiers are Cristine’s Creations, Country Club of Hershey, Holiday Inn – Harrisburg Hershey, Kemp’s Foods, Inc., The Hotel Hershey, and Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen.

Chocolatefest will take place February 4 from 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $12.50 for adults, $15 adult (at door, as available), $5 for children 4-12, children under 3 are free.

The Third Annual ChocolateBall will be held February 3 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. An elegant black tie affair, the Ball will feature the live music of Big Tubba Mista as well as dinner, dancing, and a live auction. Held from 6:30 p.m. – 12 a.m., tickets are $100 per person and $150 per patron. Tickets can be purchased by calling 232-7509 or by going to the website: kss.org.

ChocolateFest Weekend is held to benefit Keystone Human Services, a family of agencies that includes Keystone Children and Family Services, Capital Area Head Start, and Susquehanna Service Dogs, among a variety of other organizations. Last year’s Weekend raised over $100,000.

Susquehanna Chorale Valentine Concert: “Love is in the Ayre”
Whitaker Center, Harrisburg

Celebrate the spirit of Valentine’s Day with song. The Susquehanna Chorale is presenting an “evening of romance Broadway-style” with its upcoming concert, “Love is in the Ayre”.

Conducted by Artistic Director and Founder Linda Tedford, the Chorale will be performing romantic hits from some of Broadway’s most legendary and beloved shows, including “Younger than Springtime,” “Tonight,” and “There’s a Place For Us” from “South Pacific,” “West Side Story,” “Camelot,” and “Porgy and Bess.”

Soprano Tami Swartz and tenor Christyan Seay will be the featured soloists for the concert.

A catered dessert buffet will be held following the concert in Whitaker Center’s Kunkel Gallery.

“Love in the Ayre” will take place at Whitaker Center’s Sunoco Performance Theater on February 10 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and $50 each and can be purchased by calling THE BOX at 214-ARTS. Jazz Beneath the Stars
The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg

It’s back! The State Museum is once again sponsoring an evening of Jazz Under the Stars. Held in the Museum’s planetarium, the event provides the unique opportunity fans of jazz and dance alike to share an evening under the starry sky.

CoCo & Company will be providing the music in the planetarium, while dancing with Third Stream is set to take place in the Musuem’s Memorial Hall. Desserts, appetizers, and champagne will also be served.

Jazz Under the Stars will be held at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, Third Street, Harrisburg on February 10 from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person for the general public, $20 per person for members of Friends of The State Museum. Tickets can be purchased at the Museum or by calling 772-6997.

Pennsylvania Ballet
Whitaker Center, Harrisburg

Pennsylvania Ballet will be taking the Whitaker Center stage for a one-night only performance. Featuring Agnes de Mille’s Rodeo, Lar Lubovitch’s Concerto Six Twenty-Two, and George Balanchine’s Agon, the performance will be held February 13 in the Center’s Sunoco Performance Theater.

The one-night only performance is a eclectic blend of styles, from de Mille’s Wild West themed Rodeo to Lubovitch’s Concerto Six Twenty-Two set to Mozart’s “Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra,” and Balanchine’s Agon, set to the music of Stravisnky.

Based in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Ballet is considered one of the nation’s premier ballet companies, wowing audiences since its formation in 1963.

The performance of the Pennsylvania Ballet at Whitaker Center will take place February 13 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $15 through $45 and are available by calling THE BOX at 214-ARTS. For more information on the Pennsylvania Ballet, check their website: www.paballet.org.

Harlem Globetrotters
Hersheypark Arena, Hershey

The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters are making a stop at the Hersheypark Arena during their 75th Anniversary Season.

In its 75 year existence, the Globetrotters have toured 115 countries, played in front of more than 120 million fans, and counted more than 20,000 wins and 332 losses. The Globetrotters kicked off their 75th Anniversary Tour on January 6 at the United Center in Chicago, where the organization was founded.
