Live Music: viperHouse September 6 Don’t
miss your opportunity to spend "An Evening with viperHouse." Kicking off
the band’s fall tour, the Blue Star performance is the first with the
newly revamped line-up. Originally a nine-member band, viperHouse now
numbers six, with four of the founding members having recently departed
due to personal reasons. Following their departures, the remaining members
of the band added an additional member, Zach Tonnissen.
Called "cosmo funk for a new millennium" by Signal to Noise, viperHouse has spent the past five years transcending from a regional to a national act, gaining a reputation for a tight, funky sound that successfully translates both on record and on the stage. ‘A modern day spasm band,’ the viperHouse style can be traced back to 1800s New Orleans where the spasmic dancing of the musicians earned the style its name. A jazz/funk band in the tradition of Ellington and Sun Ra, viperHouse has become a staple of the East Coast club scene, packing in the crowds with their unmistakable blend of sound and spirit. viperHouse will be at Lancaster’s Historic Blue Star on September 6 at 10 p.m. For more information, check the Blue Star’s website at thebluestar.com or go to the viperHouse site at viperhouse.com.
