The End Of An Era

Yep.

This is volume 3, issue number 12. Can you believe next month will be our third anniversary? We can’t. It seems like just yesterday that we were at 16 pages, 12,000 copies and 100 distribution locations. Now it’s 40 pages, 20,000 copies and 450 distribution locations, with no end to the growth in sight.

So, what’s the big deal about our third anniversary, you ask? First of all, it means that we’ve beaten the commonly accepted statistic that says 85% of small businesses fail in their first three years. Second, it will be the end of MODE as a monthly publication. That’s right, MODE will become a weekly publication in it’s fourth year.

We’re so happy!

It’s going to mean a lot of changes around here, some of which you may have already noticed. For instance, you’ll see a lot more current events and news-related article in MODE. This is something avoided by monthly publications because a lot can change in 30 day. Also, you’ll enjoy greater coverage of regional entertainment and the arts. And best/worst of all, going weekly will mean the end of this Publisher’s Note. I know, I know, some of you are rejoicing, and the rest are just mildly happy, but dribble like this has no place in a weekly publication.

Just so you’re not shocked, we’re not going weekly next month, but it’s coming soon. BUT, we do have several neat surprises planned for next month, but you’re gonna have to wait and see them for yourself.

Things of special interest in this issue are the schedules for Jubilee Day, June 17th, and for the Fourth of July American Musicfest, Independence Day weekend. And don’t forget the Next Generation Festival which runs all next week, I’m sure you’ll love it!

Finally, if you miss the 9th Annual African Family Festival, it’s your own fault.

Enjoy.
