The thing that amazed me the most about this year’s April fools joke is that we were so blatent about the fact that it was a farce, yet so few people got it.

Let me illustrate.

First, you really should read our articles from start to finish. Shame on all of you who just skim over things, you’re really missing great stuff, and in the case of the April issue, you missed the whole thing. The end of the story revealed the sham completely.

So, not only did we give away the joke at the end of the City Island Sold story, but I also made several references to April fools and the whole joke thing in my Publisher’s Note as well, appropriately entitled “Calling All Fools!” But the real kicker was the fact that we gave the entire thing away right on the cover, and no one, absolutely no one caught it. Just take a look at the magnified upper right-hand corner of last month’s issue, and notice that we admit that we’re lying. Now come on, what do we have to do, print the words “This Is A Big Honkin’ Lie” right across the cover for you to get it?

This just goes to reinforce my point from last month. You just shouldn’t believe everything the media “feeds” you. You’d be amazed at how much is fluff.

Alright, enough of that. And NO we are not planning any kind of joke whatsoever next year, so don’t ask, because it isn’t going to happen, no way, sorry.
