Hershey, PA Summer is around the corner and so is the 1999 Summer Concert Series. The stars will be shining in Hershey with many of todays top performers taking the stage at Hersheypark Stadium and Star Pavilion. After researching numerous entertainment facilities, the Hershey Sports and Entertainment Group and Hersheypark Security have decided to implement a proven system that will give everyone an equal opportunity to purchase great seats without having to stand in line overnight. For the larger shows which are anticipated to draw sell-out crowds, a new approach for ticket on-sales has been introduced. For these shows, fans will be permitted on the property two hours prior to the on-sale time. During this first hour, fans will be directed to a specific location, predetermined by Hersheypark Security, where they will be issued numbered wristbands. The fans that arrive after that first hour will be directed to a second location. At the conclusion of the first hour, security will randomly select a wristband number to determine the line order. Once the line is in place, everyone will be escorted to the box office windows. At that point, everyone who arrived after the first hour will be escorted to the end of the line. As previously stated, this system will only be in effect for some concerts.

Harrisburg, PA Last month, Mayor Stephen R. Reed announced that over $1 million in restoration and improvements will occur in Harrisburgs Riverfront Park as a result of the citys successful appeal of an earlier settlement. Reed said the reason for the appeal was that the city knew the original total estimated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was inadequate to repair the costs of the damage incurred in the January, 1996 flood. The Mayor said that the initial estimate, $157,759, was insufficient to cover the extensive damage that the flooding did to the lower walkway, steps and the embankment of the river itself. As a result of the successful appeal, the new settlement will be spent on repair and replacement activity. Reed said the largest part of the work will involve replacing the 52,443 square feet of land scoured by the massive ice flows of the flood. In doing so, the city will place a stone veneer to not only brace the repairs but to protect it from future flooding loss and possible related damage to North Front Street, as well. The remainder of the work will involve repairs to Riverfront Park itself. The Mayor said the City Engineers office will now proceed with bid specifications to have the work undertaken this year.
