Harrisburg to Host Second Annual Banquet at Farmers
Market Initiated in 1996 to celebrate the $2.5 million restoration of the Market Complex by the City of Harrisburg, the Gala Gourmet Dinner dance proved highly successful and has been made an annual event. Harrisburg Mayor Stephen R. Reed, who initiated the Broad Street Market revitalization and its management arrangement with HHA, is serving again as honorary chairman of the party. Co-chairs are Elli Colon, Barbara Ail Apollo and Kenneth J. Suter, Esq. the cost of the entire evening is all-inclusive at $80 per person. The black tie-optional party is open to anyone, and it includes a special "after-dinner rate" for which tickets may be purchased at the door. For persons attending after dinner beginning at 8:30p, the cost is $30 per person in advance of $35 at the door. Chamber of Commerce to Hold 84th Annual Meeting Mr. Richard F. Teerlink, chairman of Harley-Davidson, Inc., will be the guest speaker. Mr. Teerlink joined Harley-Davidson, Inc. in August 1981 as chief financial officer and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 1982. In 1986, Teerlink played a major role in guiding the firm back to public ownership. He was appointed president and chief operating officer of Harley-Davidson in August 1988 and in August 1997 was named Chairman of the Board. "The Journey" will be the topic of Mr. Teerlinks presentation. Announces Expansion The grand opening will feature musical entertainment in the Waterfall Courtyard by Natalie Darkes. Additionally, there will be a visual art exhibit in the newly added Social Parlor, featuring local artist Christine Johnson. With the coffee house expansion, Sweet Passions will also expand its a la carte menu to include hot entrees, and has already added gourmet ice cream and sorbet to its assortment of sweet treats. In addition to expanded menu items Sweet Passions has the capacity to accommodate 66 guests.
